About Nigerian Women in PR

Nigerian Women in Public Relations is a social impact professional organisation set up to advocate for, and provide growth resources to, Nigerian women working in public relations and communications in-country and in the diaspora.

As the Public Relations profession evolves, we realise that more than support and inspiration, there is a need to focus on the growth and continued relevance of Nigerian women (WomeninPR) in the industry, both locally and globally.

The initiatives of Nigerian Women in Public Relations are designed to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals 4: to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all; and 8: to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

Vision

To be the leading professional advocacy body for public relations women of African descent and to improve understanding of public relations in developing economies.

Mission Statement

To build a robust network of competent and qualified black women in PR & Communications, and while improving access to opportunities

OUR OBJECTIVES

Women in PR
  • To be a resource hub for learning and professional growth of each Nigerian working in Public Relations & Communications

There are very limited learning resources in public relations and communications developed for the practice of public relations in developing economies like Nigeria. Where materials are found, they are extensively theoretical without insights into the everyday reality of the profession across various industries. Our programs, training, and resource materials will address that gap by identifying and collaborating with experienced practitioners to develop relevant resources.

  • To support the continuous relevance of Nigerian women practicing Public Relations & communications as the profession evolves

While the principles and ethics of practice in the profession remain the same, the tools of trade change periodically as economic and social issues shape expectations from PR & communication professionals. In collaboration with our diaspora network, we shall facilitate continuous learning for our members to ensure that they remain globally competitive yet locally relevant in the industry.

  • To platform the results of Nigerian women in Public Relations & Communications (Women in PR)

Women have historically delivered incredible results for industries and society, deploying strategies that have prevented and de-escalated crises, and secured the loyalty of millions to brands. They have led teams and established agency businesses that continue to deliver. Many know the women and their rewards, but few know their results and processes. Where women are constrained by nature and societal expectations not to openly celebrate their achievements, our initiatives will provide a neutral platform to amplify the incredible stories of results and impact of Nigerian women in PR & comms.

  • To promote the understanding and value of public relations

When businesses and society better understand what public relations is, and the immense value it can contribute to the growth of organisations and the progress of society, then commensurate value will be offered to Public Relations & Communications professionals in exchange for work done.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDG) ALIGNMENT
